11 Day Powerplay Captures Powerful Social Content Using MemoryFox

The 11 Day Power Play just completed its 3rd annual Community Shift event where 2,500 hockey players participated in over 250 continuous hours of hockey; setting another world record for the longest game of hockey.  The 11 Day Power Play is a tremendously ambitious event held in Buffalo, NY and is the first of its kind in the US.  Donations from the event go to the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, Camp Good Days, and Make-A-Wish Foundation.  This is a story-driven event as many of the participants have powerful stories of how these organizations have impacted their lives and the lives of their loved ones. In 2019 they raised a total of $1.6m!

Problem:  To facilitate this event and the social events leading up to it, The 11 Day Power Play needed a way to capture media of the 164 teams displaying their passion for playing hockey and fighting cancer.  They had limited funds to pay for a photographer or videographer, and since it was man multi-day events that were often 24 hours a day it was not feasible to have a volunteer capture all content. The 11 Day Power Play also needed a highly organized and secure space large enough to store the vast amount of media collected.

Solution:  During the event, MemoryFox members worked with 11 Day Power Play’s content manager to capture a variety of content including gameplay, interviews of players and volunteers, interviews of spectators, and team spirit videos. This resulted in dozens of pictures and videos that were captured that would have not been possible without using a system that allowed for collaboration and crowd-sourcing of content.
