Sneak Peek: 4 easy fundraising Tips from the book
Tip #5: Enhance transparency by leveraging staff stories.
Staff testimonials offer a behind-the-scenes look at the people driving your nonprofit’s mission forward, which is a fantastic trust-building tool. The truth is, your audience loves to see how their dollars impact the day-to-day operations, but these stories are often not shared publicly. Take the time to capture and share the unique stories that staff members hold and elevate their hard work regularly. When done effectively, donors will appreciate your transparency and be more inclined to give!
Consider asking:
- How does (this organization) make our community a better place?
- What is the toughest decision you’ve had to make in your department?
Tip #15: Choose a simple raffle prize that appeals to everyone.
At in-person events, it’s easy to think that your raffle prize needs to be something big and flashy—like a car, a lawn mower, or signed sports memorabilia—to generate buzz. While those are exciting prizes, securing them as in-kind donations often takes a lot of time and effort.
However, you can raise just as much (or even more!) with a simple, universally appealing prize. A $500 gift card to Amazon, Target, or other popular brands like Netflix or Starbucks is not only much easier to secure, but will spark excitement among a broad range of supporters. The key is offering something everyone wants!
Tip #28: Give peer-to-peer fundraisers options that are not fitness related.
One common misconception about peer-to-peer fundraising is that it must be fitness-related — but that’s not true! It’s important to remember that some of your supporters may be differently abled, or simply not interested in a fitness challenge. At their core, peer-to-peer campaigns are successful when a goal is set and met – but there is no requirement that it be a fitness goal! Here are a few non-fitness challenges your fundraisers can strive to achieve:
- Number of books/pages read
- Meters of grass mowed
- Rows of yarn knitted
- Pies/muffins baked
- Craft beers tasted
The key here is to be creative and inclusive! The more options you offer, the more people you empower to raise funds in a way that works best for them.
Tip #49: Elevate your marketing with Canva Pro (It’s free for nonprofits!)
Nonprofits can easily access Canva Pro for free through Canva’s Nonprofit Program, and it’s a game-changer for creating high-quality designs with minimal effort. Applying is simple – just ensure your nonprofit meets the eligibility requirements (501(c)(3) status) and submit your application online. Once approved, your team will unlock powerful features like unlimited access to premium templates and graphics that aren’t available on the free version. You can access your MemoryFox content at any time, if you are a MemoryFox storyteller.
And that’s just 4 out of 50! The best part about these creative ideas is that they span across missions, communities served, budget sizes, geographic locations and beyond. Download your copy today to start “easily” raising more funds:
